What happens to the details you send me.

Short version: the enquiry form sends me an email. Nothing you type is saved into a database on this website, because this website does not have one.

The detail

Who is responsible for your information

Tamara, trading as Tamara's Home & Hound, of York, North Yorkshire, is the data controller for the information you send through this website. You can reach me about anything on this page at [email protected], or through the enquiry form.

What the enquiry form collects

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your phone number and your postcode or area, if you choose to give them.
  • Which service you are asking about, and the dates you have in mind.
  • What you tell me about your animals, and anything else you add.
  • Your IP address and some basic browser information, collected by the spam check described below.

Please do not send alarm codes, key locations or detailed veterinary records through the form. Those belong in person at the meet and greet.

Why I use it, and on what legal basis

I use your enquiry to answer it, to tell you whether your dates are free, and to arrange a meet and greet. Under UK GDPR the lawful basis for that is Article 6(1)(b) — taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

The spam check and the limits on how often the form can be submitted rely on legitimate interests: keeping the form usable and my inbox free of automated abuse.

Who else handles it

  • Cloudflare sits in front of this website and provides the Turnstile spam check, which processes your IP address and browser information to tell a person from a bot.
  • Resend delivers the enquiry email to my inbox.
  • OVHcloud hosts the server that receives the form, in a data centre in London, United Kingdom. The site is deployed onto that server with Coolify, which is deployment software rather than a separate hosting company.

Each of these is a processor acting on my instructions under a contract. Where any of them processes information outside the UK, that is covered by the safeguards in UK data protection law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

Where it is kept, and for how long

Your enquiry lives in my email, not in a database on this website. There is no customer account, no stored payment card and no file on the server holding what you typed.

I keep enquiries that do not turn into a booking for up to twelve months, so that I can recognise you if you come back, and then delete them. Where an enquiry becomes a booking, I keep the records for as long as I need them for tax and accounting purposes.

Cookies and measurement

This website sets no analytics or advertising cookies and shows no cookie banner, because it does not track you. The only third-party element on any page is the Cloudflare Turnstile spam check, and it appears only on the enquiry page.

Payments

Invoices are sent through Square. If you pay one, Square handles your card details directly and I never see or hold them.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict how I use it, object to my using it, or ask for it in a portable form. Email me at [email protected] and I will deal with it within one month.

If you are not happy with how I have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or on 0303 123 1113. I would rather you told me first so I can put it right.
