The bits people ask about before they book

Bank holidays

Bank-holiday rates apply on official bank holidays in England. Bank holiday nights start at £60 rather than £50, with the same £25 per extra pet per night. I will tell you exactly which of your nights I am treating as a bank holiday when I quote, so it is settled before you agree to anything.

Beyond my usual area

Drop-in visits run within about five miles of York and overnight stays reach up to about fifteen miles. There is no travel surcharge. Further out than that, ask anyway — whether I can take it depends on what else is in the diary that week, not on an extra fee.

How paying works

Nothing is held until after we have met. Once we both want to go ahead I send a Square invoice. The agreed deposit secures the booking, and the remaining balance is due later as set out on that invoice. I do not take card details and there is no account to create.

Why there is no online booking

Because I will not commit to an animal I have not met. The meet and greet at your house is free and comes before any booking, and it is the only way I can tell you honestly whether I am the right person for your dog or your cat.

If plans change

Cancel more than two days before the booking starts and there is nothing to pay. Cancel inside that, and the deposit is what you lose — I do not charge the rest of the booking on top. If I have to cancel, you get everything you have paid back in full.

The terms we agree before your first booking

Tell me your dates and I'll quote the whole thing.

Dates, your postcode, and what animals you have. You'll get one figure covering the nights or visits you actually need, before anything is booked.

What happens next

I reply to say whether the dates are free.

We talk, then I come to your house to meet you and your animals.

Nothing is confirmed until after that.
